FORD FS-10 (Visteon) Calorimeter Test Results

The first compressor was run on a NEW system to establish the baseline. Oil and refrigerant was drained from the system, (no flush) with the compressor, orifice tube, and accumulator being replaced for the second test. Each compressor had an identical charge of factory lubricant and the second had 1.5 oz of ICE 32 added to it.

Summary – Changes in each compressor between the pre-test and post-test evaluation.

Capacity - While every new compressor can have measurable differences in output capacity when installed on the test stand, this chart indicates the changes that occurred within each compressor after the life cycle test was performed

FS-10 w/ Factory Lubricant

FS-10 w/ ICE 32

Low RPM Idle

The system displays a 2% DECREASE in capacity (-368 Btu /Hr)

(Invalid test due to Charge level)

Simulated City Traffic / 30 MPH

The system displays a 6% DECREASE in capacity (-1655 Btu /Hr)

The system displays a .5% DECREASE in capacity (-110 Btu/Hr)

Simulated Highway / 65 MPH

The system displays a 8% DECREASE in capacity (-2336 Btu/Hr)

The system displayed a 2% INCREASE in capacity (+565 Btu/Hr)

Other Ford FS-10 Tests

Discharge Air Temperatures - As noted in the capacity summary, the differences in air temps are reflective of the changes that occurred within each system after the life cycle test was performed.

FS-10 w/ Factory Lubricant

FS-10 w/ ICE 32

Low RPM Idle

The system displays a negligible .31° F INCREASE in discharge air temps

The system displays a DECREASE of .8° F in the discharge air temps

Simulated City Traffic / 30 MPH

The system displays an INCREASE of .75° F discharge air temps

The system displays a DECREASE of 1.3° F in the discharge air temps

Simulated Highway / 65 MPH

The system displays an INCREASE of .99° F in discharge air temps

The system displays a DECREASE of 2.4° F in discharge air temps

Compressor Operating Temperatures - This measurement is used to demonstrate the operational deterioration of a compressor over it's life span.

FS-10 w/ Factory Lubricant

FS-10 w/ ICE 32

Low RPM Idle

The system displays a 4.05° F INCREASE in compressor discharge temperatures

The system displays a 1° F DECREASE in compressor discharge temperatures

Simulated City Traffic / 30 MPH

The system displays a 15.7° F INCREASE in compressor discharge temperatures

The system displays a 10.5° F DECREASE in compressor discharge temperatures

Simulated Highway / 65 MPH

The system displays a 20° F INCREASE in compressor discharge temperatures

The system displays a 16° F DECREASE in compressor discharge temperatures
