GM HT-6 (Delphi) Compressor Life Cycle Test
(3 Yr / 36,000 Mile)

Two different NEW HT-6 compressors were subjected to an accelerated life cycle test on a calorimeter at Zexel Valeo to determine the influence if ICE 32 on the A/C system. One compressor was tested with factory PAG 150 (Delco 15-118) lubricant only and the other used the factory PAG 150 (Delco 15-118) lubricant with an ICE 32 treatment.

A baseline performance test was conducted under three load conditions, Low RPM (Idle), Simulated city traffic (30 MPH), Simulated highway driving (65 MPH), was run before the compressors were subjected to the 120 hour Life Cycle test. Unfortunately, the compressor not treated with ICE 32 had a clutch failure at 115 hours into the test sequence. The compressor did not seize, but the increased internal drag or resistance caused slippage of the clutch drive plate, loss of the grease from the clutch bearing, resulting in clutch failure.

The treated compressor did not fail and completed the full life cycle test and performance retest.
