GM V-5 Thrust Bearing
Thrust bearings within the compressor transfer the load from the wobble plate to the piston connecting rods.
The images below display the wear pattern from a single roller from within the bearing assembly. All rollers showed similar wear patterns.
The thrust bearings carry the highest pressures in the compressor. Corrosion and failure of the thrust bearings contribute to many mobile air conditioning problems.
